Monks, Constance
It is with great sorrow that we announce the death of Constance Monks on March 19, 2006 at St. Joseph’s General Hospital Extended
Care Unit in Comox at the age of 95. Connie was born in North Hatley, Quebec on October 8, 1910 to Richard and Julia Sprigings. Her mother and baby brother died in the flu epidemic of 1918; she was raised in North Hatley by her father and step-mother, Nellie Sprigings. Connie trained as a nurse at the Montreal General Hospital, class of 1932, working as a private nurse before marrying in 1940. Connie was a devoted wife and mother, and a kind and generous friend. She will be sorely missed by her family and by all who knew her.
Survived by loving son Richard (Margaret) of Courtenay; by grandchildren Harley and Julia of Vancouver, and Ashley (Melissa) of Toronto; by great-grandchildren Aubrey and Rowen of Vancouver; and by brother Edward of North Hatley. Predeceased by husband Kenneth Bevan, and by infant daughter Julia Beverley.
Many thanks to the staff of Casa Loma, and of the Extended Care Unit, and to Dr. Potter-Cogan and Dr. Schovanek. A Memorial Service will be held at St. Joseph’s General Hospital Extended Care Unit on Thursday, April 13th at 3pm.
