In loving memory ~

Cathy Buckrell, born in Scotland, brought laughter, love, and an unwavering spirit to every corner of her life. Cathy, beloved wife of Brian Buckrell and proud mother of Lorne, Lorraine, and Graeme, daughter to Agnes and Tom Leithead, and brother to Bill and John Leithead. Her legacy lives on through her cherished role as a grandma to Jayden and Maeve. She left an indelible mark on the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing her.

Cathy's quick wit, get-it-done attitude, and infectious sense of humour could brighten the darkest days. Family was her anchor, and she navigated life's adventures with a profound commitment to putting family first. Cathy's love knew no bounds, offering unconditional support that created a foundation for her family to thrive.

An outdoor enthusiast through and through, Cathy found solace and joy in nature. Her love for horses, especially her favourite, Mac, added a special chapter to her life's story. Whether tending to her farm, retiring in the scenic beauty of the Comox Valley, hiking the Camino and Chilkoot trails, kayaking Haida Gwaii, or traversing the open road in their RV with Brian, Cathy embraced each chapter with the same zest for life. For Cathy, life was an adventure waiting to be embraced.

Cathy's magnetic presence was unmistakable in any room, be it a board meeting, a family dinner, selling a house, or a lively party. Her masterful poetry and wholehearted participation in every aspect of life exemplified her all-in approach. Cathy's vibrant personality shone through, leaving a lasting impression on everyone she encountered. You knew when Cathy entered a room!

Even in the face of challenging health battles, Cathy remained a beacon of positivity. Confronting a decade of Alzheimer's disease and recent terminal cancer with resilience, she continued to spread kindness, find joy in small pleasures, and uplift those around her. Cathy's unwavering spirit and determination were a testament to her strength and grace.

Cathy Buckrell, a bright star in our lives, may no longer be with us physically, but her light will continue to shine bright in the memories, stories, and laughter she shared with all who knew her. In celebrating her life, let us remember Cathy's enduring spirit and the love that will forever echo through the lives she touched.

A Celebration of Cathy's Life will be held in the future.
