Caroline Elizabeth Inrig

April 30, 2003

Inrig, Caroline Elizabeth “Betty”

It is with great sadness that the family of Caroline Elizabeth Inrig nee: Cornwall (“Betty”) announce her passing on April 30th, 2003. Born on April 27th, 1924 at Ashcroft, BC. The youngest child to Fitzalan and Mabel Cornwall, Betty is predeceased by 8 brothers and sisters. She is survived by and sadly missed by her husband of 58 years, Bruce, her sons Doug and Scott (Glenda) and daughter Anne (Charlie) as well as her grandchildren, Tyler, Krista and Bryan, all who will miss her love and support.

We are all grateful that Betty lived a full and wonderful life. She joined the war effort in 1942 as a Lead Airwoman. After raising her family Betty was Postmistress in Woss, working for Canfor — a job she dearly loved as it allowed her to chat with all who came to get their mail.

Betty was a life long learner, taking computer/internet lessons while keeping active with her aquacises, walking and TOPS. Betty volunteered faithfully to such things as Meals on Wheels, Sendial with Thrifty’s Foods, Ident-a-Kid, Filberg Seniors Centre and 888 Wing until her illness prevented her from doing so. Betty was a voracious reader and loved to travel. She was fortunate enough to be able to travel to most parts of the world and share wonderful memories of these trips with Bruce.

The family would like to thank Betty’s many friends for their support, especially Minnie, People at Home Supporter (Jill), Public Health Nurse (Norma), Palliative Care nurses at St. Joseph’s Hospital and Dr. Douglas Anderson for their compassionate and professional care to Betty.

A Celebration of Betty’s wonderful life will be held Saturday, May 10, 2003 at 2:00 p.m. at the Airforce Association 888 Wing, 1298 Military Row, Comox, BC (across from Glacier Arena).

In lieu of flowers the family suggest with thanks, that donations be made to the BC & Yukon Cancer Society.
