Innes, Carl Hartley
1922 - 2003
Passed away peacefully on August 9, 2003 in his 81st year at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Comox.
Carl was born in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan. His family moved to Shaunavon, Sask. when he was 4 years old. After completing high school he joined the R.C.A.F. Following his discharge and after a year of studies in Saskatoon he joined his father and uncle in their men’s and ladies clothing business. He later took charge of the business which he ran successfully until his retirement.
He married Isabel Knapik in 1949 and together raised their family, a daughter and 4 sons. He was involved in many community charities and organizations. He enjoyed curling and golfing. One of his greatest joys was spending time with his family and friends at their cabin in the Cyprus Hills.
Carl and Isabel moved to the Comox Valley in 1997. He enjoyed the lovely weather, watching the Toronto Jays and meeting new friends.
Predeceased by his parents J.B. and Bea Innes and only brother Donald, he will be greatly missed by his beloved wife Isabel of 54 years, children Elizabeth & Don of St. Albert, Alta, Bill & Rosalind of Comox, Rob and Sheila of Calgary, Doug of Calgary, Dennis and Diana of Calgary, his grandchildren: Mark, Jillian, Sean, Megan, Alison and Gemma. Also survived by his sister-in-law Margaret Innes and 2 nieces and 1 nephew and their families.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, August 14, 2003 at 11:00 am from Christ the King parish, 1599 Tunner Drive, Courtenay, BC. COMOX VALLEY FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, 1101 Ryan Road, Courtenay, entrusted with arrangements.
