Betty Ovington passed away on May 15, 2002. Born Betty Jane Armstrong on November 30, 1934 in Hardisty, Alberta, Canada. Betty and her family moved to Edmonton, Alberta, Canada where they lived until her early teens. Her family then moved to Cumberland, British Columbia, Canada where she met her true love while in high school. She married John Ovington on October 13, 1951 and settled into raising a family. Their two sons were born in Comox, British Columbia, Canada. Betty and her family moved to Eureka, California in 1966 and this remained her home until her death.

Betty enjoyed her family and friends. She was extremely talented and could do almost anything she set her mind to. She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi and will be remembered by the people of Eureka as the 鈥淕randma鈥� of the Sports World, formerly located in Henderson Center. Betty was a super mother and grandmother as well as wonderful wife and friend to all who knew her. She leaves her family and friends with terrific memories that will never be forgotten.

She leaves behind her beloved husband John, her son Bill and wife Kathy Ovington of Eureka and her son Donald and wife Carol Ovington of Campbell River, British Columbia, Canada. She also leaves four loving grandchildren Christopher Ovington of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, Joseph Ovington of Campbell River, British Columbia, Canada, Katrina and Alisha Ovington both of Eureka California.

As goodbye grows close

All I want to say is I love you.

Cherishing all the time we shared,

And regretting those moments we didn鈥檛.

Your rosy cheeks never faded,

And your smile hung on.

and the tunes he whistled,

And remember how you

braided my hair, and put

notes in my lunch.

And let your spirit hold them.

Held dear in our hearts.
