Newman - Arthur Edmund, 84 years old, died peacefully at Peace Arch Hospital on September 19th, 2002 with family at his side. Predeceased by his wife of 51 years, Betty - “Sis” Newman (Dorman), son Alexander Craig (Sandy) Newman, and siblings Margaret, Sid, Red, Kit, Connie, Marion and Jeanette.
Art was a generous, loving, dedicated husband, father, grandfather and friend who constantly modeled unconditional love in words and deeds. He will be lovingly remembered by his children Kelly (Deane), Ted, Lauris (John), and James (Cathie); grandchildren: Joel, Matthew, Holly, Jana (Mike), Jamie-Lee, Misty, Louesa, Emret, Becky, Jordyn and Jake; his brother Pat and sister Gerry (Ted). As well, he leaves behind many extended family members and close friends.
From 1932 to 1980, Art was a logger who respected and was respected by those with whom he worked. Art was a friend to many and loved dearly by his family. He will be missed by all.
There will be a Celebration of Art’s Life at the Elks Hall, 6th Street, Courtenay on Saturday, September 28th, 2002 at 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to the BC Parkinson’s Disease Association, 3rd Floor, 411 Dunsmuir Street, Vancouver, BC V6B 1X4, would be appreciated.
