Bonora, Arnold Blackie

1917 ~ 2004

With much sadness the family of Blackie (Arnold) Bonora announces his passing. Blackie passed away peacefully at his home in Cumberland on October 27, 2004. Predeceased by his mother Emma, his father Umberto, his sister Enis, and his brother Rudy. Blackie leaves to mourn his loving wife Dorothy (Dot) (nee: Brown); son Bruce (Bonnie); daughter Roberta (Doug Day); grandchildren: Jeff, Jennifer (Jason Piket), Lindsay (Day), Colby (Day); and great-grandchildren Savannah and Nolan (Piket). Blackie was born October 4, 1917 in Cumberland (Union). He started work at 16 in No. 5 Mine and worked until 1960 at Tsable River Mine, he then worked at the Comox Airport and then for the Department of Highways until his retirement in 1982. Blackie took great pride in his beautiful garden and fountain. He enjoyed traveling; his favorite trip being an Alaskan cruise last year. His courage and determination were remarkable throughout his illness. We are truly grateful to Dr. Tancon and the staff at the Cumberland Medical Clinic for their care and compassion. Blackie’s humor, quick wit, kindness and wisdom will be greatly missed by all who new him.
