Piercy, Archibald Alexander
April 29, 1911 - September 10, 2004
Archie passed away peacefully at his home near the ocean. He is predeceased by his loving wife Ellenor, two sisters Vetra Millard and Ruby Millard, two brothers Tom and Roy Piercy.
Survived by two sons Cliff (Susan) and Pete Piercy, a daughter Patricia (Rick) Hawk; granddaughters, Kim Piercy (Gary), Amber and Emma Piercy; grandson Jason Hawk; two great grandchildren Tyler and Breanna, also many in-laws, nieces and nephews.
Born on Denman Island, Archie was proud of his pioneer heritage in the Comox Valley.
Archie along with his father established Piercy’s Funeral Home in 1941 and continued to operate the business until 1973. He is an honorary member of the Funeral Service Association of British Columbia.
After his retirement he spent many happy years caring for his garden and participating in many different organizations and groups.
He was a longtime member and energetic supporter of St. Georges United Church and an honorary member of the Courtenay Rotary Club. A long time member and past president of the Native Sons of Canada, member and past member of Hiram Lodge A.F. + A.M. #14 for more than 60 years, a member of the Royal Arch Masons and a 33rd degree mason of the Scottish Rite of Canada.
A Funeral Service will be held at St. Georges United Church on Wednesday, September 15, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. with Reverend Neil Lemke and Reverend Ray Brandon officiating.
