McMONNIES, Angus Hugh Stuart
March 12, 1922 - May 17, 2006
Angus was predeceased by his siblings: David, Graeme and Sine. He is survived by his children: May Lortie, David McMonnies and Erica McMonnies; his grandchildren: David and Nicole; and many nieces and nephews.
Dad was born in Fortrose, Scotland and came to the Comox Valley as a young boy. During WWII he served overseas in the U.K. and Europe. His many occupations and travels took him to Goose Bay, England, Montreal and Manning Park but, he was always happiest when hiking or skiing in the mountains, especially Mt. Becher and Forbidden Plateau. “Retirement” took him to Pender Island where he made many new friends and where he grew a fantastic garden that produced many “winners” at the Fall Fair. Many thanks to all of Dad’s “Pender Island family” who have helped him stay in his home these last few years. He was amazed and often overwhelmed by the incredible outpouring of love from friends across the country, especially during these last few weeks.
Friends are invited to a wake and potluck supper at the Pender Island Community Hall on June 17 at 4:00pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: Vancouver Island Kidney Patients Association (VIKPA), P.O. Box 5145, Postal Station B, Victoria, B.C. V8R 6N4.
