Mark - Alexander 鈥淪andy鈥� Gilfillan, died suddenly on 21st July at Courtenay B.C. after a long illness. Born in 1917, he lived in Alberta, relocating to Victoria in 1996. Survived by wife Mary of 62 years; beloved children: Sandra of Fanny Bay, Eve (Marion) of Courtenay, & Rod of Saltair, B.C.; 7 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; and brother Jim, of Ponoka, AB. Sandy served the RCAF in England and Africa (1940 to 1945), returning to open Master Motors (Edmonton) as an accomplished mechanic. Sandy will be remembered as an inventor, engineer, and fabricator who brought beauty and function to people鈥檚 lives through his creative endeavours. Sandy was an avid hunter and outdoorsman and shared his great appreciation for nature. With his desire for knowledge, you could always find an interesting conversation or biting political commentary in Sandy. He will be missed dearly by all who loved him. A Memorial Service was held in Courtenay on the 7th of August.
