Tickets are on sale now for the Comox Valley Art Gallery’s Autumn Film Series, which starts  Sept. 18, with Perfect Day.

 
The series of 10 films will run every Wednesday at 5 p.m. at the Landmark Cinemas, 2265 Cliffe Ave., Courtenay, until Nov. 20. Tickets are available on-line at .
 
Regular tickets are $18 for each film, or $17 for CVAG members. A pass for all 10 films is $162, or $153 for CVAG members.

Sept. 18 | PERFECT DAY

Wim Wenders returns with a poignant character study and a deeply moving, poetic reflection on finding beauty in the everyday world around us.

Sept. 25 | THE QUEEN OF MY DREAMS

Fawzia Mirza’s stylish feature debut mashes up the textures of Indian cinema and a Canadian coming-of-age picture, tracing key moments in the lives of a mother and daughter born three decades apart.

Oct. 2 | EVIL DOES NOT EXIST

A place of bucolic serenity is threatened by cynical urban developers, in this exquisite slow burn that reveals the hidden potential for transformation on both sides of its fraught power dynamic.

Oct. 9 | CAFE DAUGHTER

Based on true events, this is a story of personal reconciliation for young Chinese-Cree Yvette Wong, as she embraces her heritage and builds toward her dream of becoming a doctor in 1960s Saskatchewan.

Based on the real-life arts rehabilitation program founded at Sing Sing Correctional Facility, this film follows a troupe of incarcerated actors who work on a play as part of a theatre workshop at the prison.

Nov. 20 | THELMA

A delightful June Squibb stars as a 93-year-old grandma who sets out to find the scammers who took her money in this gentle revenge comedy.

Purchasing advance tickets on-line is strongly recommended since most many films sell out. People can purchase tickets for $18, cash only, at the Theatre in advance of the screening, but only as available seats allow.
