The Strathcona Wilderness Institute, the non-profit society that manages the Strathcona Park Wilderness Centre, has compiled a busy summer lineup of nature walks, hikes and other events.

This year is the Centennial of Strathcona Park, B.C.'s first and oldest provincial park.

Special events include nature programs, theatre, history, author readings, art and photography.

The centre is located at the Paradise Meadows trailhead to Strathcona Park, adjacent to Mount Washington's Raven Lodge.

It provides visitor information, maps, books and refreshments, open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on weekends and holiday Mondays from July 1 to Sept. 11.

Volunteers will staff the centre on various weekdays.

Check the calendar on the blog for the most up-to-date schedule at http://strathconapark.blogspot.com.

All programs are free, though donations to SWI are appreciated.

Many programs are suitable for all ages and abilities.

Some events require pre-registration due to limited seating.

Check the SWI website for details at www.strathconapark.org/summer_walks.html.
