Sea King helicopters make formal retirement flight Monday

Monday flight pattern includes Duncan, Nanaimo, Parksville and Qualicum

A formation flypast of Royal Canadian Air Force CH-124 Sea King helicopters will take place along the Victoria coastline and up to Duncan, Nanaimo, Parksville, and Qualicum on Dec. 17.

The aircraft from the 443 Maritime Helicopter Squadron, at Pat Bay, where they expect to lift off around 10:30 a.m. The formation flight marks last official flight of the Sea King helicopter after 55 years of service as the RCAF transitions to the CH-148 Cyclone, the RCAF’s new maritime helicopter.

The flight is expected to start around 10:30 a.m. from Patrica Bay with no specific timings for each leg of the flight.
