School District 71 students are digging their roots

About 250 elementary and secondary students from across the district will showcase their favourite aspects of Canadian heritage April 9.

About 250 elementary and secondary students from across the district will showcase their favourite aspects of Canadian heritage April 9.

The public is invited to attend School District 71’s sixth annual Heritage Fair Open House from 10 to 11 a.m. at the 19 Wing Fitness and Community Centre on Military Row.

The Heritage Fair encourages students to explore Canadian heritage in a dynamic hands-on learning environment.

Students use the medium of their choice to tell stories about Canadian heroes, legends, milestones and achievements, as well as local and family history.
The open house is a celebration of the students’ achievement and will showcase research projects by about 250 students from Grades 3 to 12.

Winning projects will go on to the regional fair and from there could go to the provincial and national fairs.

Last year, three students from our school district were chosen to take their projects to the Provincial Heritage Fair.
