RCMP seeking attackers in Cumberland assault

Comox Valley RCMP have confirmed that a man in his twenties was seriously injured during an assault April 2 while walking with three friends after leaving a bar in Cumberland.

Comox Valley RCMP have confirmed that a man in his twenties was seriously injured during an assault April 2 while walking with three friends after leaving a bar in Cumberland.

The victim was walking to a friend's residence when he and his friends were surrounded by a group of approximately 15 young men.

The man was struck in the forehead with an empty liquor bottle causing serious injury, added RCMP.

The victim required extensive reconstructive surgery to close the wound and repair the facial injury.

The incident occurred at the intersection of Penrith Avenue and 2nd Street around 1:30 a.m.
