A high-risk takedown on the Comox Valley Parkway Wednesday afternoon resulted in a happy accident for the RCMP.Comox Valley RCMP received a tip through Crime Stoppers that a possible homicide suspect was on a ferry bound for Nanaimo, said RCMP spokesperson Const. Don Sinclair.Daily newspapers ran a series of photos of B.C's 10 most-wanted criminals Wednesday. One of the photos matched the appearance of a man on the ferry, he added."He matched the description, even down to the tattoos," noted Sinclair.As the suspect entered the Comox Valley, RCMP executed a high-risk takedown with guns drawn, and brought the alleged suspect into custody. Following fingerprint identification, police determined the man was not the suspect in question.Following further investigation, they determined he has an outstanding warrant for stolen property from Alberta.Sinclair noted the investigation is ongoing.photos@comoxvalleyrecord.com
