BC Hydro will be undertaking equipment maintenance on the Comox Dam spillway gates this Saturday, and to complete the work, BC Hydro must lift one of the two gates for adequate clearance. This means the water release from the dam will increase from 32 cubic metres per second to about 75 m3/s.BC Hydro will begin to slowly increase the discharge Friday night to have the higher flow in place until 3 p.m. on Saturday. BC Hydro will then lower the release from the dam to normal levels.Hydro advises the public to be cautious around the Puntledge River while the higher river flow is in place. The Comox Lake Reservoir has been trending downward for some time with the cool conditions and is currently at 133.15 metres, or around the middle of reservoir operating range, says Stephen Watson of BC Hydro's Vancouver Island community relations.— BC Hydro
