Public invited to water-tasting test

You are invited to attend a water-tasting event March 22 on World Water Day.

The Comox Valley Water Watch Coalition and the Council of Canadians, Comox Valley chapter, will host two opportunities for residents of the Comox Valley to sample drinking water from each of the nine local water systems.

The water in the largest of these systems, supplying most of Courtenay and Comox, comes from Comox Lake. The other systems provide water from a variety of sources, and are treated by a variety of methods.

From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., water from each supply source will be available for people to sample at the park beside the Courtenay courthouse on England Avenue between Sixth Street and Cumberland Road (across from Thrifty Foods).

From 7 to 9 p.m., water-tasting will take place at the BCGEU building, on the corner of Fitzgerald and Cumberland Road. The entrance is at the rear of the building, and the meeting room is on the second floor.

The film Water Sacred and Profane will be shown.
