Popular beats, meats and brews returns to Greater Victoria stadium

Brewery & the Beast returns to Starlight Stadium on Sept. 21

A popular festival of food, drink and music, highlighted by live-fire cooking and keen hospitality, returns to Langford to kick off the fall season.

Originally launched in 2012 by the team at 17 Black Events, Brewery and the Beast is back Sunday, Sept. 21, filling Starlight Stadium with more than 50 chefs from some of Vancouver Island’s most acclaimed restaurants, and a top-notch lineup of beverage providers.

From prime cuts, off-cuts and innovative creations, attendees can expect more unique dishes, alongside a fantastic selection of cocktails, craft beer, cider, seltzers, hard teas, wine and non-alcoholic beverages served up in unlimited quantities to complement the cuisine.

“Thanks to what will be an incredible lineup of talent and the many improvements we continue to make, this year’s Brewery & the Beast Vancouver is going to be incredible,” said Scott Gurney, director of 17 Black Events, which produces the annual event on Vancouver Island, as well as in Vancouver and Calgary. “Each presenting chef brings something delicious to the table. It's a reminder of the vibrant spirit of innovation and collaboration that defines our food scene, and we're stoked to put that passion on display for everyone to enjoy."

Over the past few years, the festival has made significant enhancements and improvements to programming to ensure the event is delivered to the highest standards, organizers said in a news release.

A reduced number of VIP and main event tickets allows for greater access to chefs, beverage stations, and venue amenities at the festival which usually sells out well ahead of time.

More chefs will be on hand, and all chefs will be making more of their dishes to satisfy the carnivorous attendees. There will also be a greater selection of beverages, and more of them. Large-format cooking will be on display, and The Pyramid de Fuego, created and made famous by chef Matias Sallaberry of South Fire and Ryan Fogarty of Leechtown Blacksmith Co., will be fired up for serving traditional Argentinian barbecue. Attendees can be on the lookout for the legendary Chicken Bus flying around the event, serving fried chicken, and the epic Tomahawks from Two Rivers will be spinning away over the hot coals.

Brewery & the Beast also features a vibrant entertainment program, including live music from local band Cities, engaging on-site activations, and the Chef’s Table Society’s 50/50 raffle.

Brewery and the Beast returns to Langford’s Starlight Stadium on Sunday, Sept. 21. Tickets, available at , traditionally sell out well in advance of the event.
