A heavy police fills police response fills Pandora Avenue in Victoria after reports of an attack on a first responder Thursday (July 11).

A heavy police response resulted in one arrest and spurred online rumours of a shooting on Pandora Avenue in Victoria on Thursday (July 11) evening.

Just before 8 p.m. VicPD was called after Victoria fire and paramedics reported being attacked.

Officers responded and arrested a suspect.

The situation required a significant response from Victoria, Saanich, Oak Bay and West Shore police departments, VicPD said in a social media update.

The large visible response spurred significant online conversation, prompting a response from VicPD on X (formerly Twitter).

“We understand there are rumours that the response on Pandora tonight was due to a shooting; this is not the case,” VicPD stated.

Police did not indicate whether anyone was injured in the incident.

Officers reported the incident clear by 9:45 p.m.
