After more than six decades, there’s a new pilot at the helm of Oak Bay Marine Group.
Graham Clarke Group acquired the 62-year-old Oak Bay-based business, including its four Vancouver Island marinas in Oak Bay, North Saanich, Ladysmith and Pedder Bay along with OBMG Boathouses and the Marina Dockside Eatery.
“For me, this is deeply personal,” owner Graham Clarke said. “I grew up in Oak Bay and have always admired the legacy of Oak Bay Marine Group. This acquisition is more than an expansion; it’s about honouring a business that has meant so much to the community. Our goal is to preserve what makes OBMG special while building exciting new opportunities for the future.”
This acquisition marks a milestone for the Graham Clarke Group as a premier marine operator in B.C. The company also owns 113-year-old Harbour Cruises in Vancouver, Coal Harbour Marina in Vancouver, B.C.-based ferry operator and shipbuilder Western Pacific Marine and the Vancouver Harbour Flight Centre.
The company said it is committed to ensuring a seamless transition for OBMG’s customers, employees and partners.
The Oak Bay Marine Group was established in 1962 by the late Bob Wright, a passionate advocate for sport fishing who died in Victoria April 17, 2013, at age 82
“When Bob Wright founded OBMG, his vision was to connect people with the beauty of our coastal environment and create unforgettable experiences on the water,” said Brook Castelsky, CEO of Oak Bay Marine Group. “Graham Clarke Group shares that same vision. This partnership ensures OBMG’s legacy will carry on while we continue to serve the communities and customers who have supported us over the years.”
