Those looking for comprehensive insights and practical strategies for food service owners, managers, chefs and more can gain insight from a FOODSAFE Level 2 certification.

Hosted by the North Vancouver Island Culinary Association (NVICA), the two-day workshop is set for March 23 and 24 in Comox. Level 1 certification is a prerequisite to register for Level 2.

FOODSAFE Level 2 delves deeper into essential topics such as managing food safety, kitchen leadership and writing a food safety plan. Led by renowned chef instructor Avi Sternberg, boasting more than 22 years of industry experience, this workshop promises to deliver comprehensive insights and practical strategies drawn from real-world scenarios.

Sternberg brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the table, having instructed both FOODSAFE Level 1 and 2 for more than 11 years. With a diverse culinary background that spans continents, Sternberg’s mastery of Japanese cuisine, honed through eight years of traditional kitchen training in Japan, adds a unique and flavourful dimension to the discussion of food safety best practices.

“FOODSAFE Level 2 is an invaluable certification for anyone in the food service industry,” says chef Jonathan Frazier, president of NVICA.

“This workshop not only equips participants with essential skills for maintaining food safety standards and also teaches them to manage the staff around them.”

The workshop fee is $100 for NVICA members and $160 for non-members, with lunch included on Saturday. To reserve a spot or for more information, contact info@northvancouverislandchefs.com. RSVPs are required by March 16.
