Not a good way to start the day

Comox Valley RCMP traffic members were nearly involved in a serious collision as they started their early morning shift Wednesday.

Comox Valley RCMP traffic members were nearly involved in a serious collision as they started their early morning shift Wednesday.

An impaired driver ran a red light as the police car was entering the intersection of Ryan Road and Sandwick Road in front of the RCMP detachment.

The female driver, a Campbell River resident, blew a “Fail” on the roadside screen device.

She had her driver’s licence immediately suspended for 90 days, and she now faces a vehicle impoundment and administrative fees of more than $4,000 to reinstate her licence under the new Immediate Roadside Legislation introduced this September.
