There may not be a prize for setting this record, but temperatures in the Comox Valley dropped to a new record low Thursday night — one of 22 new records set within the province.
Last night, temperatures at the Comox airport dipped to a chilly -7.5 C, beating the previous -7.2 C set in 1957.
By comparison, overnight lows dipped to -11.8 C in Campbell River and -11.1 C in Port Alberni.
The coldest record-setting temperature within B.C. was Sparwood, boasting a bone-chilling -31.0 C.
The end of the cold snap may be in sight, as temperatures in the Valley are predicted to rise to 3 C with sun Saturday, and 7 C and 8 C respectively Sunday and Monday with rain.
