The Comox Valley Regional District is looking for feedback on its new draft agricultural plan.
The plan is the latest iteration of the Comox Valley Agricultural Plan, first developed in 2001. This draft is the result of two years of engagement with the agricultural community and those involved in the agri-food system in the valley.
"The new plan will reflect the current issues impacting local agriculture and identify ways that the Comox Valley Regional District can support and strengthen our region’s agricultural sector now and into the future," a release from the CVRD says.
The release says that the draft plan is now ready, and that it will be open for feedback until 4:30 p.m. on Sept. 30.
“Our current agricultural plan is now over 20 years old and needs to be modernized - this update will set an improved path forward given what farmers in the Comox Valley are experiencing today,” said Lisa Kilpatrick, Community Development and Resilience Manager for the CVRD. “We value the input received to date, and look forward to hearing any final comments from the community.”
