A Nanaimo woman is 鈥榮et for life鈥� after a huge scratch ticket win.
Vera Strand won the top prize of $675,000 on a Set for Life ticket she purchased at Fairway Market, according to a B.C. Lottery Corporation press release Wednesday, Oct. 11.
Strand bought 鈥渙ne of her favourite鈥� purple Set for Life tickets, but didn鈥檛 get around to scratching until a few days later, when she sat down with a cup of coffee and the 鈥渟pecial dime鈥� she uses for scratching tickets. She won on the first game of the ticket.
鈥淚 FaceTimed my daughter to ask her if I was seeing things,鈥� said Strand, adding that she feels 鈥済obsmacked鈥� to be a lottery winner.
She hasn鈥檛 decided yet on any major purchases with her winnings, but in the meantime she鈥檒l celebrate with some 鈥渘ice family dinners.鈥� The money will provide some added security for retirement, she said.
