A 55-year old Saanich resident died after crashing their motorcycle in the 200-block of Willis Point Road.

Officers with the Saanich Police Department responded to the call just after 5 p.m. on June 20 where the rider was located with significant injuries. Officers began life saving measures until Saanich Fire and B.C. Emergency Health Services arrived.

"They were transported to hospital and later succumbed to their injuries," noted a news release from the Saanich Police Department. "Our condolences go out to the family and friends of the deceased."

Collision analysts from the Traffic Safety Unit are continuing their investigation, but early indications are that speed was a contributing factor in the crash.
