The young Crofton girl who fell 20 feet onto concrete at Ladysmith鈥檚 Transfer Beach Park on Feb. 12 is back home again.

The prognosis for Sophia Taylor, 3, initially didn鈥檛 look good and she was expected to remain in BC Children鈥檚 Hospital in Vancouver for an extended stay with a fractured skull and other serious injuries.

But she managed to return home for the weekend Feb. 25-27 and, after another week at BC Children鈥檚 Hospital for further observations and therapy, went home for good on March 4.

That far surpasses the best case scenario for the Taylor family.

鈥淚 thought I was going to be with her in hospital for months,鈥� conceded mom Selina Taylor.

鈥淚 wasn鈥檛 sure there in the beginning what was going to happen, if she was going to make it through, get off life support.鈥�

Sophia will still need some therapy 鈥� 鈥渏ust getting her back to talking and some pronunciation,鈥� said Selina 鈥� but is otherwise doing fine.

鈥淚t鈥檚 coming back,鈥� added Selina. 鈥淚t鈥檚 amazing how quickly it鈥檚 coming back and how well she鈥檚 doing.鈥�

Sophia鈥檚 also expected to do a follow-up in April on the Island for an assessment on her brain injury to make sure everything鈥檚 progressing well.

Just being home is proving to be the best therapy of all.

鈥淭he fact she鈥檚 been home with her brothers and sister have helped her tremendously,鈥� Selina observed.

The GoFundMe campaign to assist with Sophia鈥檚 medical costs has reached $48,870.

鈥淎bsolutely amazing,鈥� said Selina. 鈥淚 couldn鈥檛 ask for more.鈥�
