There will be even more activity in local skies during the next week, as 19 Wing Comox hosts the CF-18 Demo Hornet.

The CF-18 National Demonstration Team will begin preparing for the 2011 air show season when it arrives in Comox this Sunday to begin its annual training. The team will stay in Comox for one week.

The Demo Hornet, which features brilliant tail art to illustrate the 2011 theme of Supporting Our Military Families, will be seen and heard flying over the Comox area at varying times throughout the next week.

"The Canadian Forces attempts to minimize any negative impact which may be created by our presence, taking into account the requirement to train in order to maintain the highest degree of proficiency and preparedness," stated a news release. "Every effort will be made to limit the flying activities to normal daytime working hours to minimize disturbances to the public."

The CF-18 Demonstration Team will join the Canadian Forces Snowbirds, who will continue their annual pre-season training at 19 Wing for the next week.

The Snowbirds generally practise at about 10 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. around 19 Wing and Air Force Beach. They will present a public practice at Air Force Beach April 16, followed by an autograph session at the Comox Air Force Museum.
