A full closure is needed due to the depth and size of the excavation required to complete important connections at the intersection of Highway 19A bypass and Comox Road. The work has been scheduled to minimize daytime traffic disruptions and to avoid long weekend activity in the area.

The Comox Road Sewer Project will protect sensitive marine habitat by decommissioning an aging sewer pipe that crosses the Courtenay River. The project will reroute sewage collection from areas around Lewis and Simms parks to a new pipe on Comox Road. Once the new pipes are installed, the existing pipe crossing the river will be decommissioned. Construction is already underway and is expected to be completed in November 2024.
