Walk-on ferry passengers travelling from Nanaimo to the Lower Mainland are being warned that traffic will be heavy for sailings this weekend and next week.

In a service notice, B.C. Ferries said it is expecting peak foot passenger travel Friday, July 7 and Saturday, July 8, due to large group reservations. Sailings leaving Duke Point at 3:15 p.m. Friday and Tsawwassen at 12:45 p.m. Saturday are expected to be busy, B.C. Ferries said, in addition to a Duke Point departure at 3:15 p.m. on Friday, July 14.

Foot passengers are being advised to be at the ferry terminal as early as possible and prepare for the possibility of sailing delays.

B.C. Ferries said it appreciates customers’ patience and apologizes for any inconvenience.
