It's one final boost for those on two wheels in Comox.

It's one final boost for those on two wheels in Comox.

Mayor Paul Ives confirmed at Wednesday's committee of the whole meeting the application to the Towns for Tomorrow program for the Comox Avenue cycle lanes was approved for $375,000.

"The money will be well utilized on the project which is nearing completion over the next couple of weeks," he said.

In a letter addressed to Ives and members of council, Minister Ida Chong noted the province of B.C. is steadfast in its commitment to helping smaller communities across the province access the resources they need to be economically resilient and family friendly.

"Our government welcomes the opportunity to support your efforts in addressing important issues such as climate change and the overall health, sustainability and livability of the town of Comox," she added.

Ives said it was a well-received application, and thanked council for lobbying the ministers and MLAs on this issue over the past couple of months.
