UPDATE: On Wednesday, March 26 the North Cowichan/Duncan RCMP announced that the 51-year-old man who was reported missing on March 18, 2025 has sadly been located deceased.
"Although a full determination has yet to be made, the RCMP does not believe that criminality was involved in the man's sudden death," police said.

The RCMP is seeking the public鈥檚 assistance in locating Joseph Ernest Peters, who was reported missing on March 18, 2025.
Peters, who was last seen on March 18, is described as a 51-year old Indigenous man, 5 foot 6 tall and 145 lbs. with black hair and brown eyes.
Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Peters is urged to contact their local police, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
