A seventh-grade student from 脡cole Puntledge Park recently wowed judges at a public speaking competition hosted by the Canadian Parents for French BC and Yukon Branch (CPF).The annual provincial Concours d鈥檃rt oratoire has been organized by teachers and parents for 15 years, and attracted over 300 participants this year.Enrolled in Puntledge Park鈥檚 Early Immersion program, local student Adam Dunn delivered his speech, La monnaie, to a panel of judges at SFU鈥檚 Surrey campus. He received critique in various areas including presentation, coherence and content of speech, language and vocal expression, and answered a number of questions posed by the jury.He was the only competitor from the Comox Valley, and placed third in his category.Dunn qualified for the provincial event when he won a similar competition hosted by the CPF earlier this year. The contest at Puntledge Park Elementary required each student to prepare and memorize a three- to four-minute speech. Having won the sixth-grade Early Immersion category last year, Dunn returned to score a victory in the seventh-grade category this time around. He, along with all other winning students in their respective categories, won $75 donated by the CPF.
