The national ParticipACTION community challenge is happening in June, and Courtenay Recreation is encouraging everyone within the area to get involved in the fun.
Winning the award for Canada’s most active community would come with a $100,000 grand prize to be put towards local sports and physical activity initiatives.
The community challenge from June 1 to 30 is open to everyone, including organizations, businesses and individuals. Sign up as an organization or an individual at (under community challenge). Participating organizations also have the chance to win additional prizes from ParticipACTION.
Courtenay Recreation will get in on the action with events and activities throughout June. This includes:
· An outdoor pool activity card with prizes
· Select free drop-in fitness classes and childminding during the first week of June at the Lewis Centre
· Wheelchair basketball at the Lewis Centre on June 25
· An obstacle course at the LINC’s Youth Expo on June 22
· An active BINGO card for prizes all month
“We invite residents to come out to some great ParticipACTION events at Courtenay Recreation in June,” said Kathy Collins, manager of recreation programming at the City of Courtenay. “We’re excited to get active with our community and help Courtenay try for the $100,000 grand prize.”
ParticipACTION is a national physical activity and sport initiative emphasizing that everyone in Canada should have access to physical activity to help them grow and thrive – physically, emotionally and socially.
