The Comox Valley Global Awareness Network (CVGAN) and the British Columbia Council for International Cooperation (BCCIC) have partnered to host an all candidates public forum April 4 from 7-9 p.m. at the K鈥檕moks Band Hall to discuss 鈥楧ecent Work For All鈥� as it relates to our community, and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and opportunities for provincial political engagement.
鈥楧ecent Work For All鈥� offers the public a chance to tell local candidates what鈥檚 important to them about finding and keeping a good job.
All candidates from the Courtenay/Comox and mid-Island ridings have been invited as 鈥榞uest listeners,鈥� and will be offered a short opportunity to speak in response to what they have heard.

The evening promises to offer engaging and unique insights into the challenges job seekers face today, what forward thinking employers are doing to create sustainable jobs, the future of policy and post-secondary education.
鈥淲ith the rest of the world as well as other provinces really pushing progress on the Sustainable Development Goals, British Columbia has the potential to rise to the challenge and make sure we are doing our fair share,鈥� said Dan Harris, BCCIC program officer. 鈥淐anada is on board with these goals and we at BCCIC are looking forward to continuing to engage with British Columbians on how our province can show leadership.鈥�
Goal #8 is to provide inclusive and sustainable economic growth, employment and decent work for all. It is especially important to Comox Valley citizens today, and topics such as a living wage fall under provincial jurisdiction.
