On Aug. 28, B.C. United leader Kevin Falcon announced that the provincial political party would be suspending their election campaign and asked its supporters to back the Conservative Party of B.C. instead.
“I got back into politics because I wanted to build a bright future for my two daughters and for the next generation of British Columbians,” said Kevin Falcon in his announcement. “Today, I’m stepping back for the same reason. I know that the best thing for the future of our province is to defeat the NDP, but we cannot do that when the centre-right vote is split.”
Courtenay-Comox B.C. United candidate, Bill Coltart, announced his running for MLA in May of this year. He hoped to bring forth his years of experience and a commitment to public service.
The Comox Valley Record reached out to Coltart’s campaign manager for comment but was redirected to the B.C. United head Communications spokesperson, leaving no local comment about how Coltart feels about the campaign suspension.
