On Dec. 8, from 2 to 4 p.m., St. George鈥檚 United Church is hosting a Christmas Cookie Walk to benefit Habitat for Humanity North Island鈥檚 future projects.
Attendees will pay just $15 cash for a box to fill with 15 cookies鈥攎ixing and matching鈥攁long the 鈥渨alk鈥� along tables filled with 90+ dozen homemade goodies in the fellowship hall. Cookies are available鈥攆irst come, first served. There is a limit of two boxes per person to ensure that there are enough cookies for all who come. The fundraiser is only able to accept cash.
Also in the fellowship hall that day, there will be a Christmas sing-along featuring some of the season鈥檚 favourite songs.There is no charge for this event.
The Cookie Walk, now in its third year, has raised more than $3,500 for Habitat for Humanity鈥檚 1375 Project鈥攃ontributing significantly to purchasing front doors and other necessities for homes being built in that project. The committee of volunteers hopes this year鈥檚 event will earn even more for the project.
Located in the heart of downtown Courtenay at 505 6th Street, St. George鈥檚 United Church is a spiritually vibrant, inclusive, justice-seeking community of faith that has been changing lives in the Comox Valley for over a century. Its vision is to be a Christian church that is a beacon of God鈥檚 love and hope in the community, doing so through unconditional welcome, spiritual transformation, and reaching out in love for the common good.
The regular Sunday service is at 10:30 am, followed by a coffee social in the fellowship hall.
Families with young children are very welcome. St. George鈥檚 has a diverse group of more than 20 young children who participate in the children鈥檚 church while their parents and grandparents remain in the main service.
