A woman with family ties to the Comox Valley has gone missing.

Family and friends have not heard from Brianna Mason since Monday, July 3, though there was a potential spotting in Ladysmith on Wednesday.

The 42-year-old Mason, who grew up in Cumberland, was last seen in Duncan. She has brown eyes and dark brown hair. She stands 5’3” and weighs about 112 pounds. She was wearing an orange jacket, dark blue toque with pom pom, pink shirt and black pants.

Her family is very worried about her well-being.

“There’s a bunch of people who love her in this community,” a friend said.

Brianna’s appearance has changed since the attached photos were taken in happier times. Her health has declined and she is thinner, but her eyes, jaw line and other features are as distinct as ever.

“She doesn’t take care of herself,” the friend said. “She looks rough.”

It’s highly likely that Mason is hitch-hiking. She could be on Vancouver Island or the Lower Mainland.

Anyone with information about her location is asked to contact the North Cowichan/Duncan RCMP at 250-748-5522 or Crime Stoppers at cowichancrimestoppers.com; text a tip by typing COWICHAN plus your tip to 274637, or call 1-800-222-8477.

There is also a Facebook page — Brianna Mason’s online community — with more information.
