The Comox Valley Regional District has purchased the Fanny Bay Senior Society Hall to ensure it's continued use as a community facility.

The hall, located at 418 Ships Point Road, has been an active community hall in Fanny Bay. The regional district said that it intends to keep the hall active under the day-to-day operation of the Fanny Bay Senior Society.

鈥淲e are excited to announce this land purchase, after the Fanny Bay community organized a fundraiser and approached the CVRD to secure this piece of land as a public asset,鈥� said Electoral Area A Director Daniel Arbour. 鈥淭here is a lack of publicly owned lands in the southern portion of the Comox Valley, and the property is in a key location at the corner of Ships Point Road and Highway 19A. I am excited about current and future possibilities for this land and Fanny Bay residents.鈥�

Purchase of the hall will be funded by the CVRD鈥檚 Baynes Sound Community Facilities Support Service and the Fanny Bay Senior Society. The Society and community raised $47,000 to be put towards the purchase of the property to ensure its long-term use as an important community facility. The remaining funds needed to complete the purchase will be borrowed by the CVRD with the loan being repaid within five years.
