A structure fire at a home in Comox sent a black plume of smoke in the air visible throughout the Comox Valley around 3 p.m. March 6 (Wednesday).

Comox Fire Rescue Assistant Fire Chief Jim Lariviere said the fire broke out at 1308 Lanson Rd. around 3 p.m. following reports of explosions and flames coming out of the home’s garage.

“When we got here, that side of the building was fully involved,” he noted and added they hadn’t determined the cause of the fire at the time.

About 25 firefighters attended the scene and Lariviere confirmed there were no injuries from the fire. It took firefighters about half an hour to get the fire under control.
