One man was taken to hospital after he was stabbed in downtown Nanaimo today.
The incident happened just before noon on Monday, July 10, at the intersection of Robarts Street and Victoria Road.
According to Nanaimo RCMP, the assault resulted from an altercation between two men.
鈥淚t was between two marginalized individuals,鈥� said reserve Const. Gary O鈥橞rien, Nanaimo RCMP spokesperson. 鈥淥ne man got stabbed; it was a non life-threatening injury.鈥�
O鈥橞rien said no other injuries were reported from the encounter and police were gathering evidence, but had yet to make an arrest as of late Monday afternoon.
鈥淭hey鈥檙e gathering forensic evidence,鈥� he said. 鈥淭hey鈥檙e confident that he will be identified and there鈥檚 no risk to the public.鈥�
