Comox Valley advanced voting locations are now open.

Advanced voting has opened across the province, with people going to the polls to elect the next provincial government.

Voters in the Comox Valley can vote between Oct. 10 and 13, and Oct. 15 and 16. Voting is closed on Monday, Oct. 14 Thanksgiving Day.

"You don’t need a special reason to vote at advance voting – it’s an option for all eligible voters," the Elections BC website says.

Not all advanced voting places are open every day of the advanced voting period. Voters are encouraged to check their voter cards, which were sent to registered voters by mail. In the Comox Valley communities, voters can vote in advance at the Black Creek Community Centre (2001 Black Creek Road, Black Creek), the Comox Community Centre (1855 Noel Road, Comox), The Florence Filberg Centre (411 Anderton Ave., Courtenay). Cumberland voters can vote at the Cumberland Cultural Centre (2674 Dunsmuir Avenue, Cumberland). There are also advanced polling stations at the Fanny Bay Community Hall (7793 Island Highway South, Fanny Bay), and the Lighthouse Community Centre (240 Lions Way, Bowser).

Cumberland, Fanny Bay and Bowser are all in the Mid Island-Pacific Rim riding, as are rural residents located south of Courtenay.

The voting places are open as follows:

- Black Creek: Oct. 10-12

- Comox: Oct 10-13, 15, 16

- Courtenay: Oct 10-13, 15, 16

- Cumberland: Oct. 15, 16

- Fanny Bay: Oct. 12

- Bowser: Oct. 12, 13

Advanced voting locations are open from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m. on the days listed above.
