Early voting will run for four days across the Easter weekend in the Comox Valley and across the country for the federal election.
For those who want to vote before the Monday, April 28 general election day, early voting has become a popular option, with high percentages of local voters casting their ballots during advance polls in recent years.
This year, advance voting takes place from Friday, April 18 to Monday, April 21, with polls open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. each day.
Voters have to cast a ballot at an assigned polling station.
They can find the address for their assigned station on the back of the voter information card they should have received in the mail, or by visiting and entering their postal code. They can also call 1-800-463-6868 for help.
Voters will have to show ID to confirm their identity in most cases. The simplest for most people will be a driver's license or other official ID issued by the Canadian government with the voter's picture. Voters can also show two pieces of ID, each of which has the voter's name, and at least one of which must have their current address.
People who don't have ID can declare their identity in writing and have someone who knows them, who is assigned to the same polling station, vouch for them.
Voters can also cast a ballot by mail, but they have to apply online at by 6 p.m. on Tuesday, April 22.
Ballots can also be cast at any Elections Canada office until 6 p.m. on April 22.
