Island Health is searching for 100 people to take part in a design sprint to find ways to solve health-care challenges.

The event is called Code Hack and it is taking place at Royal Jubilee Hospital from March 8 to 10.

Participants will form groups of five or six people and make pitches to improve healthcare, and they have 24 hours to create and design innovative solutions. They will be able to use Island Health鈥檚 simulation lab, a 3D printer and programmable Wi-Fi enabled microchips.

This could result in a care pathway, an app, a resource for a treatment room, signage or a website.

The winners will get the opportunity to continue working on their prototype with Island Health鈥檚 innovation lab and other community partners.

Last year鈥檚 top project was a new bedside toilet to help patients better manage washroom functions, improve hygiene and address mobility issues.

Applicants don鈥檛 have to work in health care, and there is no cost to participate.
