Local healthcare resources have been the focus of incredible generosity from our community this past year. Whether it is top-notch equipment, comfort items for vulnerable community members, or education opportunities to help healthcare professionals continue to pursue excellence, donors are playing a crucial role in elevating care.

In 2024, more than $2.1 million was provided in support of local healthcare priorities by 1,230 donors. Donors contributed in different ways, often areas close to their hearts, all with the common goal to positively impact care throughout the region.

“We feel tremendous gratitude to the many individuals and businesses who show how much they care about this community through their support of healthcare,” acknowledges Susan Auchterlonie, Comox Valley Healthcare Foundation Board President. “ is committed to top quality care for everyone in the region and we appreciate how the Comox Valley consistently steps up to support local priorities.”

One of the that donors played a major role in this past year was expansion of Surgical Services to five full-time operating rooms, plus a Cataract Suite, at the Comox Valley Hospital (CVH). Special surgical equipment and medical device reprocessing tools were needed to ensure this extension of services could be offered safely and sustainably. Donors responded generously to the need so that this priority could be fast tracked.

“Access to the most current surgical technology is critical for performing advanced operating techniques and optimizing patient outcomes,” offers Dr. Connal Robertson-More, General Surgeon at CVH, upon expressing his thanks to Foundation donors.

In addition to the improvements provided at the and within , major developments like the opening of Providence Living at The Views which now offers a new home and a new, innovative model of care to residents were celebrated in 2024 with donors integral to the success.

The is a registered charity that supports the hospital, healthcare provided in the community, and non-profit long-term care (Cumberland Lodge, Glacier View Lodge, and Providence Living at The Views).
