Alpha Coins Collectibles & Estates has been a space for collectors and gold enthusiasts in Nanaimo for nearly six years. Co-founded by partners Mark and Rob, the business was born from a desire to "change the rules" of the industry by prioritizing transparency and trust.

“We wanted to do things differently,” Mark says. “ is straightforward and open, and because of that, we’ve gained many referrals from banks, estates, and individuals across Vancouver Island.”

Located at , Alpha Coins buys and and appraises collectibles like coins, jewellery, military memorabilia, and even rare, peculiar finds. The Alpha team also offers no-charge home visits to clients in nearby communities such as Parksville, Duncan, and Port Alberni.

More than gold and silver

Alpha caters to those navigating the often overwhelming process of estate liquidation, such as dealing with inherited items or clearing out a lifetime of belongings, customers often find relief in Alpha’s efficient and straightforward approach.

“It’s very satisfying work,” Mark explains. “We take what might feel like a problem to someone and turn it into something manageable. One client, who came to us with collectible stamps, jewellery, and coins, was so grateful for the one-stop shop experience.”

Their commitment to fair appraisals is made possible by real-time pricing for gold, silver and other valuables.

Across the Island

Alpha Coins’ reputation for integrity and expertise has earned them customers from all over Vancouver Island, from Victoria to Port Hardy. While larger markets like Vancouver might offer similar services, many clients prefer the personal touch of a local business.

“Nanaimo is a wonderful community,” Mark shares. “Being part of it means everything to us. We contribute to local charities, and in turn, the community supports us. It’s a reciprocal relationship that we’re incredibly proud of.”

Supporting a local business

Mark attributes much of their success to their founding principles. “We’re a small, local business, and we work very hard to take care of our clients,” he says. “That’s why they keep coming back and why they tell their friends.”

Whether you’re looking to sell unwanted gold, appraise a collection of vintage hockey cards, or learn the story behind a family keepsake, Alpha Coins Collectibles & Estates is the place to go. And as Mark likes to remind visitors, “The coffee is always on.”
