Downtown Dental Courtenay is open and Dr. Chris Becir is ready to help patients of all ages.

There has been a dental practice on Fitzgerald Avenue in downtown Courtnay for decades, and the newest owners Downtown Dental continue to improve on the tradition of providing quality dental care for you and your whole family.

From simple check-ups to dental emergencies Downtown Dental covers a wide range of services and are able to perform most procedures in-office.

For most of spring 2020, elective dental services were postponed due to Covid-19. Since then, restrictions have eased and the clinic is back open for all procedures including cosmetic, restorative and emergencies.

“We’re serving patients of all ages. We want people to know we are open and here to help,” says dentist Chris Becir. “We always do our best to make same-day accommodations when needed.”

Get to know Dr. Chris Becir

  • Vancouver Island born and raised: Dr. Becir purchased the practice two years ago, but he’s no stranger to Vancouver Island. He was raised in Nanaimo and now enjoys skiing and kayaking in the Comox Valley with his wife and two children.
  • Community First: “Dr. Becir does everything and anything he can to help in the community,” Friend says. In 2016 Dr. Becir received a ‘Comox Valley Local Hero’ award in the Community Builder Category, in recognition of his work to treat patients who would otherwise have barriers to receiving dental care.
  • Relaxed, comfortable care: Dr. Becir knows the dentist isn’t everyone’s favourite, and he takes care to help his patients feel at ease. He’s trained in Intravenous sedation to offer extra comfort during fillings, root canals, crown and extractions, and is particularly skilled at relaxing children when they’re in his dentist’s chair. “He has two little ones at home so kids just get his heart, and he’s very honest and personal when giving medical advice,” Friend says.
  • In-house procedures, billing: As much as possible, Dr. Becir and the team at Downtown Dental try to take care of procedures in-house so there’s less hassle for you. “We also accept assignment of benefits, meaning we take care of communicating with extended care providers and patients don’t have to worry or pay up front,” Friend says.
