Whether in family and community life, personal wellness or career, balance is essential. Tip the scales too far in one direction or the other, and equilibrium is upset.
It’s a philosophy Comox Valley-raised realtor takes to heart, as he strikes a balance between business, fatherhood and being actively involved in his community.
As realtor with Royal LePage and president of the , “business” makes up a big part of Reid’s day, and it’s a challenge he’s passionate about, especially in helping clients realize their real estate goals.
“I enjoy my job, and my clients are also very important to me, especially right now with the pace of the real estate market, so I make a point of moving at my clients’ convenience,” he says.
That’s especially important at a time when the market is evolving so rapidly, when Reid needs to know quickly when new listings are coming on the market, and be able to respond promptly to offers. Today, it’s common to have between seven and 15 buyers looking at a property within 24 hours – true whether it’s an entry-level condominium, single-family home or luxury waterfront property.
“We’re experiencing a negative inventory shock, where there is literally not enough housing stock to meet the demand,” Reid explains.

Time for family and community
As much as Reid enjoys real estate, it’s the other elements of his life that work in unison to find balance, and in turn help make him a better realtor.
A dad first, “being a father is very important to me, and spending time with my two daughters,” he says.
To support his health and wellness, his calendar also includes a regular commitment to physical activity like cycling, hiking and other activities – often with his daughters joining in the fun.
“Staying active clears my head and keeps me in the best shape to serve my clients, whether I’m up late finishing deals or up early to catch the day’s first listings,” Reid says.
Born in the Comox Valley, giving back to the community that raised him is essential. Not only does Reid work with the Real Estate Board, but also volunteers with the and Kiwanis Seniors Villages, together supporting the community’s youngest residents to its seniors.
“I really feel that helping our community be great is the responsibility of every citizen, and it’s important for my children to see that kind of local support,” he reflects.
