For nearly five decades, the annual has been a cherished tradition in the Comox Valley. The 49th annual event not only raises much-needed funds, but also symbolizes unity and support for children and families with diverse abilities.
Hosted by the from noon to 8 p.m. Nov. 3, the event will be filled with entertainment, activities and community spirit.

As CVCDA Executive Director Cindy Xavier explains, has long been a “bridge” for the association, filling in gaps left by government funding. "The need is always greater than the funding we receive,” she says, highlighting how vital the event is for their services, which include, early years wellness and support for neurodiverse children.
This year, funds raised will be directed towards key initiatives, including replacing an aging therapy building and supporting for young children and families. “We’ve seen significant growth in the community’s needs, with a thousand more children and families served just in the past year," Xavier says.
Aside from serving as a crucial fundraising event, Xavier emphasizes the telethon is also “a time for the community to come together and celebrate.” Attendees can enjoy a day packed with entertainment, including live performances from local musicians, face painting, balloon artists and even a special appearance by beloved children's entertainer.
Over the years, the telethon has become a reflection of the Comox Valley’s collective generosity. Local businesses play a significant role in the success of the event, donating to the, and contributing prizes for the annual raffle. “We’re incredibly grateful for the ongoing support from local businesses,” Xavier says. “Their contributions help make this event a success year after year.”
As the CVCDA approaches its 50th anniversary, the telethon remains as important as ever. “Our mission is to ensure children and families receive what they need to thrive.” The telethon is a powerful way for our community to come together and make that happen.”
